图派克的演艺生涯开始于20世纪90年代早期，他推出了一首说唱录音”Same Song” （同一首歌），这首歌后来作为EP发行，这是他的首张EP，图派克出现在音乐视频。他的说唱的首演后，1991年发行生涯第一张专辑《2Pacalypse Now》，1996年2月13日发行《All Eyez on Me was》，是Hip-Hop历史上第一张双CD专辑，也是历史上最畅销的嘻哈专辑。这张专辑没有获得任何奖项。虽然这张专辑原本在环球唱片公司发行，现在的版权归阿马鲁娱乐拥有。这张专辑的名字参考了1979年的电影《现代启示录》。

早期的图派克是以讲述爱情、女人等这一类题材的歌曲走红的。直到他身中6枪而不死，又紧接着因为强奸罪名而蹲过几年牢之后，他的风格才转变得凶狠强硬的街头硬核风格，同时也带动了以他为代表的匪帮说唱风潮。和许多不敢对抗主流说唱圈的Hiphop歌手不一样，图派克不单单把自己定位在一个娱乐大众的说唱音乐者上，他还把视角延伸到了整个社会事件上，这也导致他的歌词时常会因为过于真实而引起人群的恐慌。这就是为什么图派克充满争议却成为并且一直将会是Hiphop音乐圈内的偶像，这同样也是为什么很难再有一个Hiphop艺人能够取得他如此大的影响力了。
